This weekend I took her to a birthday party and when I picked her up we went to go grab some dinner for the family. As I drove through the drive thru to pick up the food, I wasn't really paying much attention to the person serving me through the window. His tone became so respectful and willing to serve. I looked up to see who this amazing server was. As I looked into the window there were two young teenage boys trying to help me like I have never seen before. I also noticed they were looking at my daughter. I mean REALLY looking at my daughter.
My first reaction was to jump out of the car at him, pin him down and make sure he never looked at her again. Ok, so that wouldn't work. How about I scream at you at the top of my lungs? "She is only 10 and she is still mine!" Probably wouldn't work either.
So, young man, as you are looking at this beautiful girl
Remember this is how I see her.
Please keep your eyes in your head for quite a few years to come. It seems that I better so get myself one of these to keep you at bay.

My daughter is 15 and some of these guys have every right to look, but ... it's such a strange feeling for me!
ReplyDeleteYep this time comes for every parent. Doesn't matter if you have a boy or a girl it just comes. Growing up. I know just how you feel.
ReplyDeleteHave a terrific day Lydia. Big hug. :)

I teach ten year olds :). They already have boyfriends and girlfriends at that age...I have a nine month old and am not looking forward to that age when he starts noticing girls and they start noticing him. ReplyDeleteI'm so dreading those days... It's bad enough having a teenage boy, I can't imagine how it will be with a daughter.
ReplyDeleteIt is just not right at age 10!!!! Too soon!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi following back!!! Lord I so do not look forward to this time. My daughter is only 5, but I fear the later years to come!!LOL!!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't bother me when the boys check out my daughter--well, within reason. If they are looking because she is cute, okay. No leering or being obnoxious is allowed. Okay--she is 15 and I know that is a huge difference. But she is adorable and you will have to get used to the boys checking her out.
ReplyDeleteYou totally need a gun in the near future! They grow up way too quick...it's so not fair!
ReplyDeleteHi Lydia! Thank you for stopping by my blog. I am now following you... I dread the day boys look at my daughter... but for now she is only one! Great blog you have, I can't wait to search it out.
