Going To The Pumpkin Patch

I can't even begin to tell you how beautiful it was here in Illinois this week and weekend. Since it is fall the temps aren't supposed to be in the 80's like they have been. Since I had a day off I decided this year instead of going to the same small farmer's market to pick our pumpkins, we were going to drive about a half hour away to a real pumpkin patch.

As you can see, my two year old had a blast. The other three - not so much. Plus they get really pissy when Mommy starts taking too many pictures. My husband and I had a blast. It was so much fun to be out there and get to pick our own pumpkins. The girls may not have had fun this time, but I am hoping when they get older they can look back at our "family traditions" with fond memories.

This farm has Christmas trees as well. Just wait until I tell the girls we are going to go back and cut down our very own Christmas tree this year! (cue in moans) I can't wait to make more memories. Until then, we will just enjoy our pumpkins.

  1. It was beautiful, wasn't it?? And we went to an honest-to-goodness pumpkin patch too, down in Springfield. It's weird--I have never cut a pumpkin off the vine before. Every "patch" I've been to just throws the pumpkins in a field. I have to say, it was fun. And yes, I took photos too. ;)

  2. I'm sure they will see the importance of these family traditions. They just need to get a bit older. You can laugh at them later when they have kids of their own.

Have a terrific day. Big hug. :)

  3. Wow, I didn't know you could actually cut them off the vine. That's the real thing. I never really thought about it, duh!

It's funny, my husband and I don't have little kids nearby (his g-kids live in another state), but we go to these seasonal places just to celebrate. Being out this weekend was amazing!

Didn't your kids get the sincerity that surrounded them? I mean, Linus was there!

  5. They'll appreciate it. That's what I tell myself too when we struggle through a zoo outing with eye-rolls and whines and kid drama. I wish we had a real pumpkin patch to visit around here. I don't even know if they grow down here actually...

On an aside, your oldest is so tall! She looks so grown up! They're all beautiful...your in for so much trouble. ;)
