Hasbro Card Games Review

I have to admit that Hasbro has always been one of my favorite game companies since I was a kid. So, when I was asked to review their new card games for this year I was excited!

I am always looking for fun and educational things to do with my girls over the summer and these are just what I was looking for! I played all three games with my girls for hours. We all had a really great time and it was nice to be able to have something we could all do together. I was also happy
that I got them away from the television for awhile.

For the second year in a row, Hasbro is introducing a new layer of excitement to traditional card game play. Hasbro's newest games, Sorry! Revenge and Yahtzee Hands Down, offer fast-paced fun for just $6.99. Hasbro is also bringing back the classic Mille Bornes card game for players age six and up. These games can be enjoyed all summer long, anywhere and everywhere!

Find out more about Hasbro card games on the Game of the Month page.

Save the date - National Family Game Night - Wednesday, September 29th

Save the date - National Family Game Night - Wednesday, September 29th. Hasbro is encouraging families across the U.S. to turn off the television and take a break from busy schedules to laugh and bond over classic family board games such as Monopoly, Sorry! and The Game Of Life.

Disclosure:
I was provided with the card games to write a review. All opinions are my own.

Pour Your Heart Out Wednesday - It's Not Denial, It's Survival

I recently found a great new blog called Things I Can't Say. Shell is honest and witty and expresses herself so well on so many things that Moms can relate too. Every Wednesday she hosts Pour Your Heart Out. The purpose is to be able to express your heartfelt thoughts once a week about anything you want.

I guess the only way to start this post is to say, I am lonely. I am lonely because I have so few in real life (IRL) friends. Part of the reason I came back to blogging was because I missed all of the wonderful people I have made friends with online and the endless amount of support that is out there if you need it.

I have have lots of friends over the course of my 37 years, but they always seem to go away. I have lost BFFs because of a boy, because of other friends, because I got engaged, because I got married, and because I had children. It seems that all my BFFs in the past could never weather through the changes in my life or theirs. To keep myself sane I have always tell myself they couldn't have been that great of a friend if they just gave up.

Because of all the pain, I have found that I have become the kind of person you have to tear down a wall to get to. Not to be difficult, just to be safe. I don't want to be hurt anymore.

To make matters worse, I have found it so hard to make friends since I have four children who have me running in four directions. You would think I would be able to with all these kids. Yet, I am home most of the time and don't get a chance to meet many Moms.

I am hurting at the moment because I think I am going through a break-up with my BFF for the last 15 years. I know it may sound funny, but I am sure you all know what I am talking about. Unfortunately, there isn't much talk about how friendships break-up or how to deal with it.

She lives about 4 hours away so we don't get to see each other but maybe once or twice a year. We call each other at least once a week, every week. She is the Godmother to my fourth daughter. She knew the real me before marriage and children and the person I am now. She knew when to push a little harder to get me to open up and she always knew what to say.

But now, the phone calls have stopped and things aren't right anymore. It started when she forgot my wedding anniversary. She is the only one left of my wedding party I even talk to anymore. She came right out and said she was too busy and just forgot. That really hurt. We are never too busy. I haven't forgot her anniversary, her birthday, her two boys birthdays or her husbands ever. We don't expect anything from each other, but an email, a text, something would have been nice.

She did manage to send a card a week later after we had talked. I emailed her and thanked her and told her I was hurt, but I understood she had a lot going on. We haven't talked since. WTH?

Now she is being spiteful and emails me to tell me she is too busy call her another week and crap like that. That is not my friend and I just don't understand. We are the kinda friends that can put one another in their place if need be. Am I going to loose a 15 year friendship because I told her I was hurt because SHE forgot something important to me??

I know I need to fight for this relationship, but I just can't find it in me right now. I am so hurt at all of her actions I don't know how to move on.

Back to my world I go. Friendless and sad. I don't want to hurt anymore. Friends have become such a painful part of my world. I never understood why my Dad used to tell me that if when I died I still had a handful of friends I would be lucky. Now I get it, Dad.

MyBlogSpark Dinner Party

About a month ago I was invited to attend a dinner party on July 22nd, hosted by MyBlogSpark. They wanted to treat me and a guest to a four course dinner at Ben Pao's in Chicago to thank me for being part of their network.

Ben Pao's is a fabulous Chinese Restaurant right in the heart of Chicago. How could I turn down such a wonderful offer!

I can't tell you how excited I was to have a night out with just my husband. I had never been to Ben Pao's before so, it was even more exciting to finally be able to try them out. My husband couldn't stop raving about how great their food is.

It was a beautiful summer's night when we arrived. We had to fill out a release form in case any pictures or film was taken of us. This didn't seem out of the ordinary at the time.

We were allowed to have one adult beverage as part of the four course meal. I chose a Frozen Ginger Ale. It was heavenly!

We were then served sweet and sour soup and appetizers. I know, I am a bad blogger. I was so hungry I forgot to take pictures of the food!

We were able to choose from several selections for dinner. I choose the Beef and Broccoli and my husband had the Shrimp Lo Mein.

The food was delicious! I couldn't have asked for a better meal. We were then treated to the most delicious desserts - Lemon-Ginger Cheesecake and Chocolate Spring Rolls.

After everyone had finished the hosts walked around and passed out fortune cookies. The cameras came out of nowhere and they were taping everyone opening their fortune cookies. Here is what it said:

My husband and I were in complete shock! This food was way too good to be frozen! It tasted like real gourmet Chinese food. Even my husband was really taken back because he had eaten at Ben Pao's before and couldn't tell the difference! It was just that good.

I have to admit I have heard of Wanchai Ferry before but never tried it. I will make it a point to buy it now so I can have wonderful Chinese food at home.

Disclosure: I was provided with the dinner, a gift card, product and information through MyBlogSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

29 And Holding

So, here it is again - my birthday. I am still 29 and holding. Or at least I am claiming to be! I am actually going to be 37.

My girls wanted to throw me a Sponge Bob birthday, but I opted for a barbecue at my Mom's house with some much needed relaxation.

This year has been full of struggles so, I find myself more grateful than ever for my beautiful family, my loving and supportive husband and for the simple fact that we have everything we need.

When I get to blow the candles of my cake out this year, my wish is simple. I wish for enough.

"I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish enough "Hello's" to get you through the final "Goodbye."

Zebra Pen Review and Giveaway

Isn't it funny no matter how many pens you have in the house, you always have your "favorites". The problem with having favorites is that everyone else in my house adopts them as their favorites and I can never find a pen when I need one.

I have even started to hide my favs so I can grab one when needed. The only problem is everyone in the house always finds my hiding spots. So, I am always on the lookout for my next favorite pen.

So, I was so excited when the Zebra Pen company wanted me to try out the newest editions to their line:

The Z-Grip Daisies, Regal Rollarball, and Cadoozles.

o Brown

NEW Cadoozles

The minute the package of pens arrived in the mail every single person who is able to write in my house was eyeing my pens! I was able to keep them at bay until now. Shhhh....I told them they couldn't use them until my review was up! I tried each new edition and loved them all. The girls will want to use the pencils for when they go back to school and my husband loved writing with the Roller Ball. It writes really smooth. My favorite was the Z-Grip Daisies. Not only are they cool, fun and stylish looking I LOVE the form fitting grip. I guess I have to make good on my promise and give my family a few. But, I am keeping all the Z-Grip Daisies for myself in a NEW hiding place!
