Wendy's Pick 2 Menu Review And Giveaway

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to join other Illinois bloggers to try Wendy's new Pick 2 menu items.

For just $4.99 you can pick one of their salads and a side as shown above. I tried the Apple Pecan Chicken Salad and had a small frosty as my side.

I have to say I was really impressed with it. It was delicious.  The salad has apples, sweet cranberries, roasted pecans, real blue cheese crumbles and Pomegranate Vinaigrette dressing. It was more than enough for a lunch. I was also happy with the fact that you just can't beat the price! There are so many choices for your second side that you will always be satisfied no matter what your appetite.

The Rattles CD Review And Giveaway

Since I live in a house with four children, music and cartoons are always on in my house. I get super excited when I find something that both my kids and I like to listen to.

When I was asked to do a review for The Rattles new CD, I was excited. They have been compared to the sounds of the Beatles and I love the Beatles.

The minute I put it on my girls were dancing around. The beats are fun and easy to dance to. I loved the fact that they really do sound like the Beatles. After the CD was over my girls were asking for more.

Here is their first music video:

Thanks to The Musebox, one of my readers can win a copy of The Rattles CD!

KT Tunstall Tiger Suit Album Review

KT Tunstall has come along way since the release of her first album, the pop-folk masterpiece "Eye to the Telescope," which eventually peaked at #3 on the UK music charts and jumped to #23 on the Billboard
charts the week following Katherine McPhee's performance of "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" on American Idol.

Her newest release, "Tiger Suit," is an almost complete 180-degree turn from Tunstall's august beginnings. In fact, she's pretty much kicked over her folksy roots and present tracks that are at times quite high-powered and very much danceable. Tunstall refers to her new material as "nature techno" and that's a label I'm comfortable with. Of course, though it may not do the 4-million business her debut did, it's always interesting to see an artist with the courage to branch out.

The first single, “Fade Like a Shadow” is a great dance track about the end of a relationship. To me, it's one of the more catchier songs on "Tiger Suit," but it's far from the only foot tapper. “Uummannaq Song,” which pulses with world music rhythms and backing vocals is another favorite of mine, as is “Glamour Puss,” a track that wouldn’t
sound out of place on an Adele Laurie Blue Adkins record. "(Still A) Weirdo," which was the first single released in the UK, has been described as an autobiographical account or the singer's life, according to Tunstall. The track is full of echoed whispering, beautiful acoustic guitar, and the singer's trademark aching, wavering voice. It's great stuff.

So, what's the final consensus? I think "Tiger Suit" is a great success. It takes what's made Tunstall so great already and adds to it in new, creative ways that keep it fresh, interesting, and certainly worth the wait. She shows that she is a real rarity in the music industry: a singer/songwriter who, in spite of being situated firmly
in the mainstream, is staunchly following her muse. She is able to serve up genuine emotion while avoiding the useless, inane heart-on-sleeve-ness of the majority of her contemporaries. She not only shows her talent here, but focuses it, sharp and laser-like, resulting in her strongest collection of songs yet.

404 Error

The person I am looking for is not here. I am not even sure who I am looking for anymore.

Am I looking for the young, naive 16 year old that thought love would solve all the world's problems?

Or maybe the 20 something girl in college that didn't have a care in the world except for where her next beer was going to come from?

Or the 20 something college graduate, living on her own, full of life, strong, independent, got what she want with hard work?

The newly wed that married the love of her life, had a brand new house and could accomplish anything?

All of these girls are gone and have been replaced with a woman in her late 30's that is tired, run down, has four kids, many stresses and not much joy.

I guess you could say I am going through an identity crisis. I have been home for 10 years now raising my girls and I feel like I have lost my way. I have lost who I really am.

Before my daughters were born I had an awesome career, I made great money and I had a sense of purpose. Don't get me wrong, being a Mom gives me a great sense of purpose, but not a great sense of self.

I don't feel like that strong, fun, ready to take on the world person anymore. I want her back. I am not even sure I like who I have turned out to be. Most days I feel like a maid that is just here to take all of my children's abuse.

Clean, cook, laundry, repeat.

When Did Halloween Become About Sex?

This is kind of a rhetorical question. I already know the answer. I too am guilty of dressing up as a French Maid once or twice in my twenties. Now that I am a Mom to four daughters I see things A WHOLE LOT differently.

Three of my daughters are still young enough where they want to be characters. But, my 10 year old who is the size of a teenager, is a different story. She is wearing teen size clothes and with teen size clothes there is a lot of inappropriate clothing out there. I think not only inappropriate for a teenage girl, but for the many tweens out there who are the size of teenagers already.

I have to sit back and wonder why there is so much sexuality in Halloween when it is a child's holiday. I realize that it is a night where adults can dress up as whatever they like as well (slutty or not). But for a country that is trying to get the teen pregnancy rate down - is letting your kids sexy really the right message?

Hasbro: Nab It Game Review

Every Friday is pizza night in our house. We have also decided to make it Family Fun night as well. The girls get to choose the game and we all spend some quality time together. Hasbro contacted me to review their game Nab It. My whole family was so excited!

One of our favorite games to play is Scrabble. Nab It is from the makers of Scrabble, so we knew we were in for some fun. Nab It is a word-building game that challenges you to link your colored tiles to create words crossword-style and then steal words from your opponents by stacking your tiles on top of theirs.  When all the tiles have been used, you count the words showing and the one with the most wins!

The game includes 100 two-sided letter tiles, 4 gray bank tiles, 4 letter bags and rules. The game is for 2 to 4 players for ages 8 and up.

I had a really good time playing with my oldest two daughters and husband. What an excellent game for those who know how to spell and for those who are still learning. It was a perfect level of game for both my 10 year old and 7 year old. As a Mom, I couldn't be happier with a game that my girls are learning and having fun at the same time.

Make sure to follow Family Game Night on Facebook and Twitter.

Disclosure:  I was provided with Nab It to write a review. I did not receive any other compensation. All opinions are my own.

Mix Pups Review

I was so excited when I found out that I was chosen by Mom Select and MommyParties to host a Mix Pup party! My girls were even more excited when they found out!

Mix Pups is a line of collectible mix-and-match dogs with a twist! Not only can girls mix and match the puppies clothing, but they can also mix and match the dogs front and back legs as well as designer hairstyles.

My girls invited some friends over and they had a Mix Pup party. The Mix Pups were a hit with everyone. They all had so much fun mixing and matching the Puppies. Here are a few pictures of the party. (The parents declined to have their children photoed on my blog)

My two year old was in heaven. She LOVES puppies and these puppies were even better because she could change them around.

My girls and their friends had a great time. The Mix Pups were a great hit. I can see them being a success at Christmas time. I only problem I had was that the legs kept falling off and were hard to put back on. Since the company has found out they have already made adjustments to fix the issue.

Mix Pups are now beloved in my house. I hope your family will like them too!

Disclosure:  I was provided with Mix Pups and accessories to write a review. I did not receive any other compensation. All opinions are my own.
