Here is my story! Make sure to go enter!!

My husband and a co-worker of his were at a convention together and were sharing a large suite on the 13th floor of the convention hotel.  After a long day of meetings they were dismayed to discover that the elevators in their hotel were out of order and wouldn't be repaired until later the next day. To make matters worse, they would have to climb 13 flights of stairs to get to their room.  My husband suggested to his co-worker, John, that they break the monotony of their unpleasant task by concentrating on something interesting.  My husband, Mark, said that he would tell some jokes for a few flights and then John could tell some stories the rest of the way.  At around the 7th or 8th floor it was John's turn to lighten the mood, but his story wasn't exactly all that positive.

He turned to my husband and said, "I have a story that I can start with, but it's more or less a sad one."

"Um, okay," my husband replied, unsure of where John was going.

"It begins with, I left the room key in the car."
