Making Money Monday - Swagbucks

Search & Win

To continue from last Making Monday's post, I wanted to share with you another way that I have actually earned money. I have made $25 dollars in Amazon.com gift cards through Swagbucks. I started about 6 months ago and I just love it!

They have a lot of other things and gift cards you can cash in for, but I love Amazon and all the daily deals they have. The gift cards I earn help to pay for the deals I purchase from them.

At the end of last year there were so many other bloggers that were saving up all year to use their gift cards for Christmas. I am going to try and do that this year.

The best way to earn Swagbucks is to use their search engine anytime you need to search something on the web.  It combines both Google and Ask.com.  I would recommend uploading the Swagbucks Toolbar.  Sometimes you will get free swagbucks just for being signed in to your toolbar.  Plus, it is easier to use the search engine if it is at the top of your page ready to go.

You will get rewarded points for searches you do.  Sometimes you will earn and sometimes you won't.  But the points start adding up.  And, once you get to 450 Swagbucks, you will get a $5.00 Amazon Gift Card. Save up 2,350 Swagbucks and get a $20 Target Gift Card.  Or save up 5,900 Swagbucks and get a $50 Amazon Gift Card!

Also, make sure to become a fan on Facebook. If you are a Facebook Fan of Swagbucks and really want to earn points quicker, they share information on there to help you know where extra Swagcodes are listed. You just enter them into your account and you will get more Swagbucks.

This is ENTIRELY Free!  I haven't paid a dime and I started using Swagbucks myself last year!

This is the easiest way to get paid to search the internet. Something you and I both do every day.

So, sign up here and get started!

Once you get set up make sure to forward this post to your friends and let them know they can do the same thing. You can give them your referral link from your account and every time they earn Swagbucks, you do too!

Friday are Mega Swagbuck Fridays. They give out higher value points every Friday!

In All My Life I Have Never Laughed So Hard!!

A couple days ago my husband sent me a link to a site he wanted me to look at. He sends me stuff frequently so I don't always get a chance to read it right away.

Later in the afternoon I opened the link and went to a site called - Damn You, Auto Correct!

It is a site devoted to people who send in the funniest texts I have ever read because of their Auto Correct.  If I am having one of those days I go read a few. It is the kind of funny that  make you laugh uncontrollably and cry at the same time.

Need a laugh? Go check it out at www.damnyouautocorrect.com

Marriage

I got this in an email the other day. I wanted to share it. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful, loving, supportive husband. I don't know how I would live without him. Make sure to tell your spouse how much you love them today.

MARRIAGE

When I got home that night as my wife served dinner, I held her hand and said, I've got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I observed the hurt in her eyes.

Suddenly I didn't know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the topic calmly.
She didn't seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, why?

I avoided her question. This made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and shouted at me, you are not a man! That night, we didn't talk to each other. She was weeping. I knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage. But I could hardly give her a satisfactory answer; she had lost my heart to Jane. I didn't love her anymore. I just pitied her!

With a deep sense of guilt, I drafted a divorce agreement which stated that she could own our house, our car, and 30% stake of my company.
She glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. The woman who had spent ten years of her life with me had become a stranger. I felt sorry for her wasted time, resources and energy but I could not take back what I had said for I loved Jane so dearly. Finally she cried loudly in front of me, which was what I had expected to see. To me her cry was actually a kind of release. The idea of divorce which had obsessed me for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer now.

The next day, I came back home very late and found her writing something at the table. I didn't have supper but went straight to sleep and fell asleep very fast because I was tired after an eventful day with Jane.

When I woke up, she was still there at the table writing. I just did not care so I turned over and was asleep again.

In the morning she presented her divorce conditions: she didn't want anything from me, but needed a month's notice before the divorce. She requested that in that one month we both struggle to live as normal a life as possible. Her reasons were simple: our son had his exams in a month's time and she didn't want to disrupt him with our broken marriage.

This was agreeable to me. But she had something more, she asked me to recall how I had carried her into out bridal room on our wedding day.
She requested that every day for the month's duration I carry her out of our bedroom to the front door ever morning. I thought she was going crazy. Just to make our last days together bearable I accepted her odd request.

I told Jane about my wife's divorce conditions. . She laughed loudly and thought it was absurd. No matter what tricks she applies, she has to face the divorce, she said scornfully.

My wife and I hadn't had any body contact since my divorce intention was explicitly expressed. So when I carried her out on the first day, we both appeared clumsy. Our son clapped behind us, daddy is holding mommy in his arms. His words brought me a sense of pain. From the bedroom to the sitting room, then to the door, I walked over ten meters with her in my arms. She closed her eyes and said softly; don't tell our son about the divorce. I nodded, feeling somewhat upset. I put her down outsidethe door. She went to wait for the bus to work. I drove alone to the office.

On the second day, both of us acted much more easily. She leaned on my chest. I could smell the fragrance of her blouse. I realized that I hadn't looked at this woman carefully for a long time. I realized she was not young any more. There were fine wrinkles on her face, her hair was graying! Our marriage had taken its toll on her. For a minute I wondered what I had done to her.

On the fourth day, when I lifted her up, I felt a sense of intimacy returning. This was the woman who had given ten years of her life to me.
On the fifth and sixth day, I realized that our sense of intimacy was growing again. I didn't tell Jane about this. It became easier to carry her as the month slipped by. Perhaps the everyday workout made me stronger.

She was choosing what to wear one morning. She tried on quite a few dresses but could not find a suitable one. Then she sighed, all my dresses have grown bigger. I suddenly realized that she had grown so thin, that was the reason why I could carry her more easily.

Suddenly it hit me... she had buried so much pain and bitterness in her heart. Subconsciously I reached out and touched her head.

Our son came in at the moment and said, Dad, it's time to carry mom out. To him, seeing his father carrying his mother out had become an essential part of his life. My wife gestured to our son to come closer and hugged him tightly. I turned my face away because I was afraid I might change my mind at this last minute. I then held her in my arms, walking from the bedroom, through the sitting room, to the hallway. Her hand surrounded my neck softly and naturally. I held her body tightly; it was just like our wedding day.

But her much lighter weight made me sad. On the last day, when I held her in my arms I could hardly move a step. Our son had gone to school. I held her tightly and said, I hadn't noticed that our life lacked intimacy.
I drove to office.... jumped out of the car swiftly without locking the door. I was afraid any delay would make me change my mind...I walked upstairs. Jane opened the door and I said to her, Sorry, Jane, I do not want the divorce anymore.

She looked at me, astonished, and then touched my forehead. Do you have a fever? She said. I moved her hand off my head. Sorry, Jane, I said, I won't divorce. My marriage life was boring probably because she and I didn't value the details of our lives, not because we didn't love each other anymore. Now I realize that since I carried her into my home on our wedding day I am supposed to hold her until death do us apart.
Jane seemed to suddenly wake up. She gave me a loud slap and then slammed the door and burst into tears. I walked downstairs and drove away.

At the floral shop on the way, I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my wife. The salesgirl asked me what to write on the card. I smiled and wrote, I'll carry you out every morning until death do us apart.

That evening I arrived home, flowers in my hands, a smile on my face, I run up stairs, only to find my wife in the bed - dead.
My wife had been fighting CANCER for months and I was so busy with Jane to even notice. She knew that she would die soon and she wanted to save me from the whatever negative reaction from our son, in case we push thru with the divorce.-- At least, in the eyes of our son--- I'm a loving husband....

The small details of your lives are what really matter in a relationship. It is not the mansion, the car, property, the money in the bank. These create an environment conducive for happiness but cannot give happiness in themselves. So find time to be your spouse's friend and do those little things for each other that build intimacy. Do have a real happy marriage!

If you don't share this, nothing will happen to you.

If you do, you just might save a marriage.
Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.

Obviously MARvelous

Is It Time For A Picnic Yet?

I have lived in Illinois all of my life. Winter weather is nothing new around here. But, just because I know the snow and cold is coming every year doesn't mean that I like it.  We got another 5 inches last night. I am so over winter!!

I started thinking about summer time and all the wonderful things I can do with my family. The first thing that crossed my mind was taking my girls on a picnic. I would love to have a picnic basket full of sandwiches and snacks and take my girls somewhere fun.

Another thing I am really missing right now is my grill! I really got into grilling this summer and I can't wait until I can get out there again. I am definitely going to need a new BBQ Set. I used all my of cutting boards and tools so much I think it is time for new ones this year.

Thanks for listening to my daydream. I have to keep thinking of fun, happy summer time things so the winter blues don't get to me.

Roman Town Review

I was so excited when I was asked by Mommy Parties and Dig-It Games to review a new computer game called Roman Town.

This game was developed by an actual archaeologist, and is designed to give kids a a first hand look into Roman life.  In Roman Town you explore the 3D rendered town of Fossura, which is a real town that was destroyed in 79 AD by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.  As the kids explore in the computer game they find artifacts, which include pottery, bones, coins, paintings.  Then they play games that bring them to life. They are able to solve mysteries and discover the details of daily life centuries ago.

My two oldest girls were excited to play. My seven year old is very into dinosaurs she loved the idea of finding artifacts. We have a few of my girls over and they had a Roman Town party. We were sent a party package of hats and water bottles. I had to keep my little ones busy with the prizes so the rest of the girls could play the game.

Everyone had a really good time searching and learning about the artifacts. They all enjoyed putting the puzzles together and excavating. I was impressed with the game. It was very informative and I felt like my girls had fun while learning. I would recommend this game to children between the ages of 7-12.

You can buy Roman Town online, and Dig-it has provided me with a 20% off with coupon code BLOG20, which is valid through 1/31/11.

Disclosure: I was provided a copy of the game for review purposes.  All opinion are my own

I Have Lost Four Pounds on @WeightWatchers

I think I have been on every "diet" out there. My weight goes down, my weight goes up, I had four kids, my weight goes up. I am a walking Yo-Yo.

Being the Mom to four daughters I think body image is something that must be dealt with carefully. It made me realize that being on a "diet" is no good. What kind of example am I?

So, the word "diet" is not allowed in my house. My husband and I have chosen to start "eating healthy" and we both started Weight Watchers.

We are both using the Weight Watchers Points Plus system online. I am sure you have seen the commercial with Jennifer Hudson by now. Doesn't she look terrific!!!

I HAVE LOST 4 POUNDS IN A WEEK!! I AM SO EXCITED!!  My husband has also lost five pounds in a week. We also have a workout regiment we are following. (I will write more about that another day)

I am just so excited I have found something that works, doesn't require special foods, and most importantly doesn't break the bank to be on!!! Diet foods are so expensive!! Weight Watchers allows us
to eat what we can afford and still loose weight.

If you are looking to loose weight this year I can't recommend this plan highly enough. It is so easy to follow and it does work!! I will keep you posted on my continuing results.

Welcoming In The New Year

Isn't it funny how when the new year rolls around you have a mental sense of having a "clean slate". On one hand I LOVE IT! On the other, I tend to put more pressure on myself to get more done in less time and learn from last year's mistakes. The one thing I don't need more of in my life is pressure.

So, this year I will look at things differently. I still have a "clean slate". But, instead of overwhelming myself with everything at once I am going to take every day as it comes. I do want to focus on several aspects. Hopefully, I can put them all into perspective.

My health and well being is first on my list this year. When Momma is  happy, everyone is happy.

Working on getting a head of my finances will be on going.

Continuing to save money with coupons is an ongoing job.

Just being more organized in general is a huge goal. I usually get flustered with this one. There is always so much going on with four kids, bills house, health, etc.

I hope my new approach to things helps me. I need to relax and take one day at a time with one challenge at a time.
