I was so excited was I was given the opportunity to review Hormel® Compleats® Kids Microwave Meals.  I am very lucky that none of my girls are picky. They never have been. They do love their junk, though. So, when I can find something they like that is nutritious as well I am in luck!!

The meals are quick and easy and the girls said they are taste wonderful. They have asked for them every time I go back to the store.

These great and tasty new meals by Hormel come in four varieties:
  • Spaghetti and Meatballs
  • Pasta and Chicken
  • Beef Ravioli
  • Macaroni and Beef

Hormel® Compleats® Kids Microwave Meals

Since I have four children each one of my girls got to try a meal. They all really loved each one they tried. I have bought each of them a couple times over now so each one of the girls gets to try each one.

Ahhhhh....It's Monday

This weekend kicked my ass. Between getting ready for the Easter Bunny, getting four girls dresses, tights, shoes and then getting said girls to wear the dresses, tights and shoes, I am exhausted!

I love Easter, but I am glad it is over. Now, I just have to find the will power to overcome all the chocolate calling to me everyday!!

Happy Monday!

Be Kind To Earth Day!

Every day should be "B Kind 2 Earth Day". But, this year on Friday, April 22nd it is the official day.

My daughters have off of school so we decided to come up with a few things we could do to help with this wonderful day:

1. Clean the house with some of the great "green" products we have found at the store.

2. Try and come up with something for dinner that is "green".

3. Walk around our area and pick up garbage to make the neighborhood look nicer.

What will you do to help?

Big G Cereals And Weight Management Review & Giveaway #myblogspark

It seems like there is never a time in our lives that we feel won't don't need to loose some weight. As parents we worry that our children are eating enough healthy and nutricious foods. I am not sure about your house, but in my house cereal is a stable. We love it for breakfast and snacks. But, is it a good thing for us?

According to the Report of the 2010 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee, 95% of Americans do not get enough whole grain. The average person gets a little more than half a serving of whole grain each day, which is significantly less than the recommended three servings recommended daily.

Every Big G cereal contains at least 8 grams of whole grain per serving, with more than 20 Big G cereals delivering 16 grams or more. (At least 48 grams of whole grain are recommended daily.) A diet high in whole grain has been found to help with diabetes and weight management, and may help reduce the risk of heart disease and certain cancers.

Weight management is more than just watching calories – it’s also important to ensure you’re getting enough of the good stuff. Big G cereals are made with whole grain and are nutrient-dense to help you start your day off right with brands you love, including Cheerios, Lucky Charms, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Honey Nut Cheerios, Fiber One and Total. Just look for the white check on the front of the box!

According to “The Belly Fat Prescription,” by Dr. Travis Stork, MD and host of The Doctors, a large amount of research has shown that belly fat carries more health risks than fat stored elsewhere. In his book, Dr. Stork also offers several additional “Laws of Leanness,” including:

If you love to graze: Nosh all day long on your favorite fruits and vegetables to help keep your belly full
If you love fatty foods: discover which fats can actually strip away pounds
If you love soda: substitute more delicious drinks that can help you lose up to four pounds in four weeks.

I personally LOVE cereal. I try to eat healthy so at night when I need a snack I go for a healthy cereal to tide me over until the morning. Not only is it a nutritious option for a snack, but they taste so good!

Eatting Healthy With Hunt's Tomatoes #HuntsHealth

I recently invented a recipe. Sometimes things that taste the best are made by accident. I dedicate this recipe to my husband.  Him and I are trying to live a healthier lifestyle by eating healthy and exercising three times a week.

Lately, all the foods I have been making are with healthy foods. One food that I try to use all the time is tomatoes.  Tomatoes are good for your heart. They are low in calories, but rich in nutrients like potassium, fiber and the POWERFUL antioxidant called lycopene.  In fact, because tomatoes are so nutritious, the new Dietary Guidelines for Americans say people should try to eat one more serving of them each day.

My preferred canned tomato is Hunts. The lycopene in canned tomatoes, like Hunt’s, is easier for your body to use than from raw tomatoes, and you get seven times more lycopene from canned tomatoes than from the raw version.  Hunt’s tomatoes are convenient to use in lots of recipes.
All of Hunt’s tomatoes are grown in California and are 100 percent natural and come in lots of varieties, including No Salt Added.

My recipe wasn't ever really given a proper name because my family and I couldn't come up with a good one. So, we all decided on "SLOP".  I dedicate my "SLOP" to my husband and his health.

Ingredients:

1 pound meat (we prefer ground turkey)

1 bag of mixed vegetables

2 can of Hunt's diced tomatoes

1 can of kidney beans

1 box of noodles (optional, but tastes good under the slop)

First cook the ground meat:

While the meat is cooking, place the frozen vegetables, tomatoes, and kidney beans in a pot and cook.

Once meat is cooked place it in the pot of vegetables.

Cook the noodles.

Place the cooked noodles in a bowl and place "Slop" on top.

I have a family of six and I always have leftovers with this recipe. This is not only economical, but healthy for the whole family.

For more information about the health benefits of tomatoes, check out this interactive webinar:

Do you have a heart healthy tomato recipe you can share with me and my readers?  Either make a post of it or leave it in my comments. I would love to hear about it!!

Disclosure: I was compensated for this post by Hunt’s and TheMotherhood, but the recipe and opinions are my own.

    Florida's Natural Orange Juice Review

Florida's Natural Orange Juice is the only premium made exclusively with Florida fruit. Florida's Natural (a division of Citrus World, Inc) is a co-op of 13 citrus growers in central Florida, who have been working together for over 75 years to bring us the freshest, not from concentrate, made from ONLY Florida oranges (never imported), Orange Juice in the USA.

When I buy orange juice for my family it usually seems to be such a hard decision. There are so many kinds, brands, not from concentrate, concentrated. After doing some research for this review I learned a lot about what I am looking for in an orange juice. I didn't really think about the amount of energy that is wasted by having to import fruit/juice from other countries until now. I was quite impressed with how much Florida's Natural is doing to help the environment beyond simply producing their own citrus--solar power, water conservation, natural gas, green space and recycle-able packaging are just some of the areas Florida's Natural is helping the environment. Plus, with the US economy they way it is, purchasing a product that is completely American Made just makes sense to me.

I was given a free sample of Florida's Natural Not from Concentrate Orange Juice with no pulp to try out with my family. All 6 of us enjoyed the fresh, pure flavor of it. We prefer our Orange juice with no pulp, but Florida's Natural also has other juices as well.

Check out Florida's Natural for more details on their juice, their history and some fun games. And next time you are shopping for orange juice, check for yourself to see where those oranges are coming from, you just might be surprised. I know I will be reaching for Florida's Natural next time I buy orange juice.

Disclosure: Smile.ly provided me a  sample coupon used for this review.  All thoughts are my own.

    Wordless Wednesday-Mid-Life Crisis In Black

When my "mid-life crisis" started I got my nose pierced a few weeks ago. Then it was time for my hair. I went for black this time. It is the only color I have never tried besides platinum. I am pretty happy with it for the time being. But, I can't wait until I get the courage up for the platinum!!

    What's My Age Again?

So, in the "I'm going through a mid-life crisis" style as of late, I did it again. My husband and I have been stepping out of our comfort zones lately to try and live a little. We had our neighbors over for a few drinks.

Now, I would never admit it, but I am pretty damn close to being a wino. I love my wine. Nothing works as well with my anxiety or being a mother of four better than a nice glass (or two) or Merlot at the end of the evening.

My neighbor and I can put down and let's just say we did. We finished more bottles than I would like to admit. I also got to do something that night I hadn't done such college. I prayed to the porcelain god at the end of the night. Talk about being embarrassed and sick.

I am so not 19 anymore, and so don't want to be!!!!!
