Time Passes By.....

So, as you can tell it has been awhile since I was really into blogging. I have wanted to get back into it for so long, but one thing after another comes along and I put it on the back burner.

Raising my four daughters and working a full time job takes everything I have. But writing is the one thing for "just me" that I love. I love getting comments and knowing that there are others out there just like me. I love reading other blogs and seeing that I am  not alone in this thing called "motherhood".

My New Years resolution to my myself is to get back into a schedule and start writing again. What do you plan on doing for yourself in 2015?

Smile Brilliant Review

I recently received a custom tray and whitening gel from Smile Brilliant so I thought I would try these out. It makes whitening your teeth a breeze and the kit I received performed much better than the store bought kits I've purchased in the past.

What makes this kit different from the others is that Smile Brilliant will send you a mold kit that will make a perfect impression of your teeth, and it's every easy to use. Just follow the directions that are included with the kit and you will have a mold that is customized into trays made specifically for you. There's absolutely no need to make a trip to the dentist office for customized trays because it's all done within the comfort of your home.

It takes between 7-10 days to receive your trays before you can start the whitening treatment. To begin, you simply add the whitening gel into the tray and place it into your mouth; It’s so simple. Most people will see results after 3 treatments. I also received a desensitizing gel, which does help with sensitivity due to whitening. Applying that before doing a whitening treatment is a huge help.

The teeth whitening tray kit includes:

* Teeth Whitening Trays – 2 Custom-fitted whitening trays (upper and lower teeth)
* Carrying Case – Compact case holds both your whitening trays
* Impression material to make your own dental impressions (plus extra material included)
* 3-Way, pre-paid postage – all postage between you and the lab is covered (2-way for international orders)
* 1 set of custom dental models – created by our lab technicians from your impressions
* Professional teeth whitening gel – Dentist-strength 22% Carbamide Peroxide in 3ml syringes.
* 2-year teeth whitening tray replacement warranty
* Detailed instructional brochure – Simple guide to creating your custom-fitted teeth whitening trays
* 30 day satisfaction guarantee

My thoughts: I used the kit and my teeth changed at least two shades whiter. This kit is truly worth the money! After trying so many other products I am really happy with my results.

#LettingGo

I seriously can't believe another summer has flown by. This has to be the quickest summer my family and I have ever been through. Due to my current job I had the flexibility to be home more often and enjoy my time with them.

But today... today is the day I have been waiting for. 14 years in the making I have been waiting for the empty house. Everyone is in school full time now. My oldest is now in High School, the second child is in Junior High and my two little ones are in Elementary all day. The day I have been waiting for turned out to be the saddest day of my life. I changed my mind, I want it all back.

The majority of my day I have been sitting and crying. I can't believe I am sitting in the house alone. No one is calling my name, no one is fighting, no one is eating me out of house and home. I am sitting  here all alone.

I get sad every year when they go back. I feel like a part of me is loosing them and having to let go. I know school is a safe place, but there is  no better, safer place for my kids to be than with me. I also get this awful guilt that I didn't do enough or spend our time wisely enough, even though I spent almost every waking hour with them. It is a weird guilt that I get when I realize just how fast time is going and how quickly they are all growing up.

This year the sadness is overwhelming. Having all four of them out of the house for the first time and having them all in different aspects of their school career was a hard one this year. I worry for all of them and my heart breaks four times over to watch them all go.

This year was the hardest yet. I would have thought ever year would get easier, but I was sure wrong. Each year gets that much tougher to see them go. I thought I wanted this empty house. Boy was I wrong. What I would give to get some of the time back with my babies.

If you have little ones- hug them a little tighter, enjoy every moment you can a little longer.  Time flies in a blink of an eye.

Why I Think It Is Time To Quit #Facebook

I have recently realized that every time I am on Facebook it does nothing but bring me down. So, I sat and analyzed why this is so. This is what I came up with:

  1. I can't afford a Porsche for my anniversary ( OK, really who can??)
  2. My husband doesn't do cute DIY for our back yard (he isn't handy)
  3. My husband can't fix our sidewalk (he doesn't do construction)
  4. I can't make the drinks you are showing me ( I tried and failed)
  5. I didn't get a boob job to look as good as you do in every picture
  6. I can't afford to go to the concert you are at right now
  7. I am not pregnant and just about to have a baby ( OK, I beat you I have four)
  8. I am not single and don't get your motivation to get a guy
  9. I will never again be as pretty or slim as you are ever again
  10. Awwwww..my best friend just posted she loves me. I guess I will stay on for a bit longer. LOL

Living The Dream

I have been quite lately because I have been in the process of taking my life back. I worked in Corporate America before my girls were born and always felt that going that route was for me. The last 6 months I was able to go back to work full time in Corporate America and I can tell you they can keep it!

After the short amount of time I was there, I can't begin to tell you how miserable I was. Yes, the pay was more than I was used to but not enough to make up for all that I lost I home. I was out of the house for 14 hours a day and only got to see my kids for about an hour at night. That just wasn't cutting it for me.

So, I went out and started looking for a new job. Not only did I find a job but I found my dream job! I will be working as a Public Relations Coordinator working with social media. This is what I was meant for. The money isn't as good as Corporate America, but I finally decided it was all about me. It was time I was happy. Because as they say, "If mama ain't happy than nobody is happy".

I am living proof that it is ok to just let go and live your dream. I may struggle  a little from this decision, but I know in the long run I will be so much happier. Life is already starting to fall into place because of this huge decision I made. I can't wait to see where it will take me!

The Snugg iPhone 5S Phone Review

I was recently contact by Snugg asking me if I would like to review one of their products. They have many cases to choose from such as iPhone, iPad and even Galaxy cases.  I LOVE my iPhone 5S so it was a logical choice for me to review an iPhone 5S case.

I am one of those crazy ones who loves to match their case with their purse. So, having more than one case (or purse) is definitely ok with me!

I love bright colors that pop, especially neons! I was lucky enough to choose a hot pink case!
I got it in the mail, looked at it and without even using it fell in love.

The case itself is really sturdy and "Snugg". It has a non-slip grip and it is perfect for those of us that are ALWAYS on our phones. I love it because it is ultra thin and it fits anywhere I need it to.

You can buy any of these great cases directly from the Snugg website or from Amazon.com.

I have been using this case since I received it in the mail and I just love it. I would give it a 5 out of 5 for the vibrant color, durability, non slip grip and just over all coolness.

If you are looking for a good, sturdy, cool case go to the Snugg.

New Dominos Specialty Chicken

Recently, Dominos announced a new innovative way the restaurant chain was going to serve its delicious chicken, calling it aptly enough, Specialty Chicken. The dish features a combination of toppings, sauces and cheeses layered over twelve bites of lightly breaded, whole breast white meat chicken. The four unique flavors offered include Crispy Bacon & Tomato, Spicy Jalapeno-Pineapple, Classic Hot Buffalo and Sweet BBQ Bacon. My family had the pleasure of tasting the crispy bacon & tomato and it was very good. In fact, you could even make a meal out of it for one person!

As you can see from the photos we took, there are just enough toppings on the chicken to enhance its tenderness and delicious, robust flavor. None of the ingredients overpowers the other and it was not greasy at all. The cheese had a smooth, mellow flavor that accented the texture of the crispy chicken underneath and was further enhanced by the firmness of the tomatoes . The bacon was also a great addition and was cooked perfectly. Again, you’d think that such a dish might off as greasy, what with all of the cheese and bacon, but that was not the case, and it was a welcome surprise.

Dominos really knocked it out of the park with this one and we can’t wait to order more over the weekend as a side dish to their pizzas, which we often prefer over other chains. Most likely we’ll have to order more than one, though, because our kids loved the chicken, too, and that’s no small feat when you have picky eaters.
For more information or to order your own Specialty Chicken dish, please go to www.dominos.com.

I Took My Nails Off! What You Need To Know About Fake Nails

About two years ago I decided I wanted to have cool nails. I have always been able to grow my own but, for some reason I fancied having fake nails so I could go have them done. I guess I was just getting lazy. I didn't feel like doing my nails anymore. So, I went and got acrylic nails put on.

Two weeks ago, I have decided I have had enough with the time and money it takes to keep these nails up. I wanted to go back to my own natural nails. Well, when you get them put on they don't tell you many things. Here are a few in case you didn't know:

1. Your nails will be damaged from having the fake ones on. I mean paper thin and damaged.
2. It takes forever to soak the things off. I was at the nail place for over two hours just getting them taken off.
3. You have to do something with your "own" nails after you take the fake ones off.
4. This all costs money and major upkeep.
5. I had to get a no chip manicure to keep my paper thin nails strong and from splitting.

I have been doing a no-chip manicure now just about every three weeks. My nails are still so thin. Every time I grow them out a little they seem to break. There is no way around this except for not putting on acrylic or gel nails.

My suggestion is, if you really want them put on only put them on for a short while or don't get them done at all. The damage that is does to your real nails is incredible and I am still waiting after all these  months to find out how long it will take to get my real nails back in good shape.

My Facebook Stalker

I don't know about you, but I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook. It is a great time-killer, old friend finder and fun for games, but there is so much about it that I can't stand. Sometimes it is not that great to get in touch with the past, sometimes the people drive you crazy, (see my  post Those Facebook Friends), and then there are the stalkers in your life!!

I know I have a few select people who "stalk" around other people's pages and just sit back and keep quite. I am ok with that. Not all people like to be front and center. But, then what do you do when you get an actual stalker.....and it turns out to be your own Mother!!

If your Mom is on Facebook you will completely understand. She asked me about six months ago to get her signed up. I must admit I wasn't really happy with the thought of having to share "my space" with her. But, over time it seemed ok. Things were going fine until one day she starts grilling me about my weekend. "So, how much fun did you have at that bar this weekend?", "I see you went out with so and so this weekend", "What did your post mean when you said ____".

She is killing me with these comments. She stalks me all weekend and then brings it up every Monday. I feel like I am being spied on all the time. My Mom and I are close and I tell  her just about everything, but Jeez!! Some things are better just left unspoken.

So, is your Mom on Facebook? How do you handle her?

Emile Noel Robust Olive Oil Review

Healthy eating can be done in many ways. One of the first things that can be changed to help you eat healthier is by changing what you cook with. I have cooked with many different products, but most recently it was brought to my attention to start using Virgin Olive Oils as a healthy alternative.

Huilerie Emil Noel started a family run mill in 1920 that over time has become one of the most successful artisanal oil business with widespread appeal. His products are organic only and made by hand.

The organic health appeal is what brought me to try the Emile Noel Robust Olive Oil. Organic Virgin Oils are good for your health. The Virgin Oils retain all the value of their fatty acids and vitamins, providing the nutrients we need. Pure and natural, they provide the flavor and finesse of the fruits and seeds.

I tried the regular Virgin Olive Oil and it was fantastic. It was light, and had a very minimal taste to it, but just enough to bring out the flavor in the dish I was making. I was happy to see that it was a healthy alternative to using other oils.

There are several different flavors to choose from: mild olive oil, robust olive oil, sesame oil, roasted sesame oil, sunflower oil,  hazelnut oil, walnut oil, macadamia oil and sweet almond oil.

I was very happy that I had the opportunity to try this healthy oil. Emile Noel has a wonderfully delicious, healthy oil and is committed to fair trade and a Non-GMO product.

You can find Emile Noel Artisan Oils at Whole Foods Market stores. MSRP $12.99

Keep up with products and promotions by following Emile Noel on Facebook and Twitter!!

When Mom Is Sick - The 5 Stages We All Go Through

I am sick. S-I-C-K. While half the world is in Florida on Spring Break, I am on my couch feeling like complete hell. It was bad enough I couldn't take vacation time to be with my girls on their Spring Break, but to get sick, really??

As I sit here trying to recuperate I realized that there is a whole "Mom Process" that you go through as you are getting sick. Here are the stages:

Stage 1 - Denial - I knew something was hitting me a couple days ago, but I ignored it and kept on going. I started to sneeze a lot. Ok, maybe allergies? My body started to feel run down. No, I am sure it is nothing. It can't be that I am getting sick (runs through calendar in my head). If I get sick than the girls will get sick. That won't happen! I have a job to go to, laundry to do, dinner to make. There is no time to get sick! I am a Mom!

Stage 2 - Anxiety -I can't get sick. I can't sick. Who is going to keep up with all that I do if I get sick? How is dinner going to get made? What about the laundry? Who is going to oversee everything? Who is going to take care of me if I do get sick? Oh, that is right, I am Mom, we don't get sick.

Stage 3 - Acceptance - Ok, so I am sick. It is time to get some rest. My body hurts, my nose is plugged up and I can't do anything. It is time to get some sleep so I can be more productive tomorrow. Easier said than done!

Stage 4 - Frustration - Ok, so I am sick. I have admitted it. I can accept it now. But, now I am frustrated. I NEED sleep! No one will let me sleep. Every five minutes I have a child asking for a cup, or if they can play the computer, or for my phone or for something else. No one will let me rest. There is no rest for the wicked. The word "Mommy" is still being used every five minutes.

Stage 5 - Guilt - Ok, so I am laying here and the girls want a hug. Do they not realize I am sick? I can't tell them to go away. I have to make an attempt. Now they want a kiss? I don't want them to get this. I feel so horrible. When is the last time they ate? In my sick haze did I really just tell them they could eat Cheetos for lunch? It is time to get better and get back to being Mom.

So, as I lay here sick I realize how much effort and emotion it takes to be sick. No wonder I am so tired! Hopefully I can get some kind of rest this weekend and feel better!

My Health Heros

This month I was asked to participate in a great series called, "Who Is Your Health Hero?", sponsored by the American Recall Center.

The American Recall Center is a great new website that provides straightforward health and wellness news with many greats articles. This month's article is on Hip Replacement. There are many other really good articles on the site as well. Make sure to stop by and read up on your health!

So today I am writing about My Health Hero. In my case I am writing about My Health Heroes.

I have always been the kind of Mom that puts her kids and everyone before myself. My family is my world and everything I do is for them. When it comes to my health my kids are still what is most important. You see, the fitness kick I am on right now is because of My Health Heroes. I do everything for them including keeping myself healthy.

I finally got sick and tired of being sick and tired all the time. My weight has gotten out of control and it is time to take back my health. My healthy eating and exercise is for me but mostly for them. They deserve to have a healthy Mom that will be able to keep up with them, be there for them, and continue to be in their lives because I take care of myself.

I want to see my beautiful babies grow and flourish and become young ladies, then women and if they so choose turn into mothers themselves.

My four beautiful daughters are my Health Heroes. They make me want to be a better, healthier Mom.

Who is your Health Hero and how have they helped you?

Those Facebook Friends

I have a complete love/hate relationship with Facebook. I love the fact that I can keep in contact with friends and family that I may not always be able to but, I also hate the fact that there are so many others on there that drive me insane! Here is a list of what I see on there and what I strive not to be.

1. The stalker who likes ALL your posts
2. The know it all
3. The Foodie
4. The traveler
5. The "MOM"
6. The Geek
7. The animal lover
8. The religious person
9. The political person
10. The Meme poster
11. The complainer
12. The drinker
13. The attention whore
14. The status thief
15. The endless talker

Keeping My Heart Healthy

Now that I have my diet under control with the South Beach Diet, I have added exercise back into my life as well. I am going to the gym at a minimum of three times a week now. I have even convinced my family to eat healthier and walk as much as they can in a single day. We are all walking our way back to getting heart healthy.

I am trying to be a positive role model for my four daughters by keeping a healthy weight and eating a heart healthy and smart diet. The word "diet" is a bad four letter word in my house. I prefer to call it eating healthy. I don't want my girls to ever feel like they have to diet. I just want them to eat a balanced diet of healthy items. I think teaching them good nutrition and exercise is one of the best things I can do as a Mother.

What do you do in your daily routine to keep heart healthy? How does your family participate?
