Perfect Moments

Happy Friday! This quote is so true. We just celebrated my middle daughter's 10th birthday. It made me realize how many beautiful moments I get to spend with my children each and every day. Even if they are small some day they will be big things and I will remember them.

So, cherish all the wonderful "small" moments you have with  your children and cherish the big ones as well. They all grow up way to fast.

Finding My Niche

Lately I seem to be searching for everything. My niche is just something I can't seem to come by easily. I would love to have a complete niche for my blog and I need a niche for my career. I am so miserable at my job. I had a niche for work but then I had my four daughters and lost the career all together. Now, I feel like I am just running around trying to make something fit.

Do you have your niche? Do you know what your career path is?

Gwen Stefani #ThisIsWhatTheTruthFeelsLike #GwenO2O

I think it’s been almost 10 years since Gwen Stefani released a solo album, but you’d never think it, since she seems to have eased back into recording from her heart and soul as if no time has past at all. A lot has gone on since then and it shows in the both thew quality of her lyrics and the soul of her music. Clearly, Gwen channeled her heartbreak into the new album, as she recently admitted that her divorce nearly killed her. Despite that heartbreak, though, this is a strong and true body of work that transcends standard pop fare and captures what she does best: craft raw, honest and emotional music that will always be relatable and memorable.

Track listing:

  1. Misery
  2. You're My Favorite
  3. Where Would I Be
  4. Make Me Like You
  5. Truth
  6. Used To Love You
  7. Send Me A Picture
  8. Red Flag
  9. Asking For It
  10. Naughty
  11. Me Without You
  12. Rare

Note: There are four bonus tracks on the album available at Target:

  1. Rocket Shit (Target Exclusive)
  2. Getting Warmer (Target Exclusive)
  3. Obsessed (Target Exclusive)
  4. Splash (Target Exclusive)

Some of my personal favorites include “Asking 4 It,” which features a great duet with Fetty Wap; “Send Me a Picture,” which manages to capture the fun and urgency of trading erotic photos with your lover; and “Me Without You,” with its memorable lyrics that conjures up feelings that go with the newness of heartache and betrayal.

As far as I’m concerned, Gwen doesn't disappoint with this latest effort. She has so much emotion in each song, she apparently had to wait a few years to gather enough drama to draw upon for her music! The whole album features a broad range of songs stylistically, but somehow it all works. It’s an excellent quality to the recordings here, where lots of time was clearly spent producing this album. In fact, I can’t wait until the next one!  Looking to buy her album now? Go to either of these links and purchase it today!

I Lost A Friend Today

Happy Easter! I hope this day was blessed for you and your families. We had a beautiful day here in Illinois. It finally is starting to feel like Spring. All four of my girls enjoyed their day and for that I am blessed.

I also got some sad news today. Today I lost a friend. The news just spread a few hours ago but I am still in shock. I went to college with Tony and he was the most kind, generous and giving person I have ever met. He was a mere 45 years young.

All death impacts us in one way or another, but this one really seemed to hit home for me. I guess because I am only a few years younger than him and he was just too young.

Tony's death made me realize that I am not grateful enough of what I have. I need to stop worrying about everything and enjoy what I have in the moment. I am blessed to have a strong marriage of 18 years and four beautiful, healthy daughters. I am in a bad place with my job right now but I should be grateful that I have a job that offers me benefits that I can take care of my family with. My health is good and I need to start taking better care of myself by eating better and getting my weight down. I need to be around for my baby girls.

I have so much to live for and so much to be grateful for. It is just a shame it takes a death for me to take a step back and realize as much. Life is so precious and we just aren't guaranteed anything.

I have to wrap up. My youngest is asking me to snuggle with her on the couch and this is something I can't pass up.

20 Things Parents Of 4+ Will Understand

Being a parent of four is quite a challenge. But, if you are a parent of four or more you will completely understand the following list:

1.  You are never alone- the bathroom, your bedroom, the grocery store, you name it and you will never be alone again.

2.  Laundry is a struggle of it's own- having six bodies of clothes is close to impossible. There is ALWAYS laundry to do.

3.  Screaming is normal- The first and second child is normal when they scream. They yell, you yell that is how it works. Come the third and fourth child it just becomes the norm.

4.  Expecting the worst- When you hear, "Mom, guess what?" You automatically just assume the worst. Everything becomes the worst case scenario.

5.  The house is  a war zone- Living with four kids is like living in a frat house. The mess, the laundry, the noise, the chaos.

6. No one can ever decide on what TV channel to watch- Having so many different ages makes picking one show quite impossible. There is always fighting in my house over this. There is not enough TVs in the house to keep everyone happy.

7.  You have to buy four of everything- Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day just to name a few. Shirts, socks, underwear, how can you only buy for one. You always have to make it even and buy for four.

8.  There is not point in buying any electronics- Not only do you have to buy four of everything but you can never keep up with the latest and greatest.

9.  The grocery bill costs more than life itself- Feeding a family of six is like spending one whole check on one grocery shopping trip.

10.  You can have four favorite kids- It is hard to have a favorite. So, like I tell my girls they are all my favorite.

11.  Alone time isn't a thing- EVER.

12.  Slepp is rare and when you get it it's like heaven- There always seems to be somebody up who needs something.

13.  Work is mandatory- I would love to be a stay at home Mom. There is so much going on every single day but, unfortunately the bills add up and working is a must.

14.  Your last born gets away with murder - If my first born did it I would freak out. By time the fourth one does it you don't even flinch.

15.  I have never seen so much toilet paper in my life- I have to buy more toilet paper in one year than you can imagine.

16.  You can never  have too much wine- Screw therapy. All I need is my wine.

17.  Being lonely is a good thing- There really isn't any such thing as being lonely. Being alone is rare.

18.  There are socks everywhere. Everywhere.- And they don't match!!

19.  Road trips are close to impossible- Getting everybody in one place at the same time is a funny one. Not to mention getting everyone to decide on where to go and how to pack for the trip. Being in the car is a whole other story. One wants music the other wants a DVD. Let's just say road trips are few and far between.

20. Being on time somewhere is just not gonna happen-Never ever.

Rick Springfield Concert #iwishthatiwasjessiesgirl

This past Saturday my husband took me to the most awesome concert. You see it was full circle for me. Rick Springfield was the second concert I have ever been to in my life and now that I am in my 40's I got to go enjoy him again.

He was absolutely amazing! I loved him back in the day because I was a little girl and he was hot. But now, he is a super great musician and a wonderful storyteller.

He had five guitars on stage and did the most wonderful story telling I have ever heard. I got to learn where "Jessies's Girl" came from and "Don't Talk To Strangers." Not to mention how he can tell a story.

I told my husband I think I am more in love with him now than I was in the 80's. He was just just freakin' awesome. If you have the chance, go see him. He does not disappoint.

Cherish Every Moment

My youngest and I were sitting on the couch having her read me one of her books and she looks up at  me and asks, "Mommy why aren't you playful anymore?". That one stopped me in my tracks. I looked into her big, beautiful brown eyes and said, "honey, I just don't know".

Her comment really resonated with me and made me think. Why am I no fun anymore? Has my job gotten to me? Has life stress taken away the once "fun" mom from my children?  Am I not living in the moment anymore?

My youngest will only be 8 for a little longer. I need to cherish every moment I get with her. Not to mention my other daughters.  Every day they grown up just a little bit more, before you know it they are grown.

My baby girl gave me some great insight. I need to cherish every moment I have with these beautiful daughters of mine. We are only given so much time until they grow up.

10 Reasons I Hate Daylight Savings Time

Every time I hear the words "Daylight Savings Time", all I can do is cringe. I know that is it going to mess with my whole family. It is not a welcome day in my house. Here are the 10 reasons why I hate it!

#10.  It messes with time and continuum. We are all walking around asking, "it it really 5 or 6?". It take a few weeks to get over the fact that the time change happened and there is nothing we can do about it.

#9.  I have to figure out how to change every clock in my house. Most clocks do change on their own, but there is always that one or two that don't. Don't get me started on the dashboard of my car clock. I can never figure that one out and when I do I always forget by time I need to do it again.

#8.  Trying to get my younger children into bed while it is still daylight out. All parents dread this one. Trying to convince a child to go to bed while it is daylight is almost impossible. Reasoning doesn't work with this one.

#7.  It has to be on a Monday. Really? It couldn't be on a Friday afternoon?

#6.  Waking up sleeping children on the first day of Daylight Savings. This is quite the feat. After I have failed at #8 and they are already loosing an hour, Monday is just not fun.

#5.  I can't get to sleep and I can't wake myself up. Talk about giving yourself insomnia.

#4. I am TIRED. Did I mention I was tired? Since I can't fall asleep and can't seem to wake up I am tired for at least two weeks.

#3.  My dog doesn't know how to tell time. I now have to train him to go the bathroom at another time in the morning.

#2. Did I mention I am really tired?

#1.  It is dark when you wake up. This has to be the second worst thing about the hour change. It is  hard enough to get out of bed, but when it is dark it only makes it that much harder.

Ok, I am going to take a nap now............

10 Things No One Ever Told Me Before I Had Kids

I knew from a young age that I wanted to me a  Mommy. As an only child all I ever wanted was to have siblings. Once I got married I wanted kids right away but my husband kept telling me I had to wait until we had a house. So, we bought a house and after a lot of time and trying I was blessed with my first little girl. I never had it easy. I have PCOS and conceiving was near to impossible, but somehow it happened for me. After being told I was infertile I showed them all they were wrong and had a total of four healthy, beautiful baby girls. Here is a list of things that no one ever told me about having children :

1.  Your heart is worn outside of your body

There is never a time where your heart won't break whether they are 2 or 22. The pain that your child feels you will always feel.

2. Saying goodbye is never easy

It doesn't matter if it is to Grandma's house, the bus stop or a trip to Italy, it is never easy to let your child go. Even to this day watching my two littlest daughters get on the bus makes me very sad.

3. A sleeping child is the most beautiful thing in the world

There is just something about a sleeping child, no matter what age brings you peace.

4. It doesn't get any easier

Just when you think you have got this Motherhood thing in control something else will happen.

5. Each stage has a new problem

Not getting any sleep seems like the worst in the world. Wait until they are 16 and want drive and date and drive in a car of a new driver.

6.  Once a Mother, always a Mother

7.  You will never get your body back

Remember when you thought you were overweight? You weren't! After having kids it seems that your body will never go back into the shape it was. You get a "mommy pouch" that is almost impossible to get rid of, not to mention all the other down falls....see below.

8.  Gravity is not your friend

There is no picture needed for this. Once you start to breast feed they don't tell you that you will never get your boobs back. They sag and they are nothing like what you started with.

9.  There is life beyond being a Mom

Until I met other Mommy friends I didn't realize there was more to this whole thing. If you don't have Mommy friends, find some! You need to get out without your kids and be who you really are outside of "Mom. Never loose your identify.

10.  There is never, ever any privacy again!

Bathroom, shower, bedroom, changing they are all in the past. You will loose all privacy you have ever known. Peeping eyes will become the norm.

The silver lining: It is the best job you will ever have and the most rewarding.

There Goes My Hero

As a mother it is very hard to trust anyone with our children. There is no one in this world that can possibly take care of them the way you can. There is one exception and that is our bus drivers. Every day we entrust these people to drive our most precious cargo to and from school without incident.

I think bus drivers are the most under appreciated occupations there are. We all should be entirely grateful to them for all that they do. So, I applaud anyone who is a bus driver and I just want to give a shout out to my children's  bus drivers who keep my children safe every day. Thank you from the bottom of this mother's heart.

I Really Need A Day Between #Saturday and #Sunday

Why is it that the week goes by so slow but the weekend goes in fast forward. There is so much to do. Cleaning, laundry, and more laundry, shopping, grocery shopping and whatever activities might be going on. And there is of course, "Mom can you drive me here and there and everywhere!".

The only thing that saves me during the weekend is that #TWD, The Walking Dead is on. I am beyond a huge fan as I have said before. I can't live without my weekly dose of Daryl and Rick. At least I have something to look forward to. I defiantly don't look forward to getting up early and going to work on Monday morning.

I hope you had a great weekend. What gets you through each weekend when you know Monday is about to start again?

Dear #Facebook

Dear Facebook,

You are always asking me how I am doing or what I am feeling. It seems to be acceptable if I have won the lottery, have the best husband and kids in the world, bought a new car, or have the best life ever.

But guess what? None of these pertain to me or probably anybody on Facebook. It has become such a fantasy world for so many people. It is all a lie. Do you want to hear about the real bad day I had at work? Do  you want to hear about my daughter's depression and anxiety and what it is doing to her? What about the temper tantrum my youngest threw today.

No, I am afraid you want to hear about my "fake" life. I don't do that so I guess you and I will have to part ways. I have had enough of the fake and pretentious people you have made on your site.

When you get back to reality, look me up.

ABC's Of Me

This week has just started so I thought I would start it out with a little bit about me. I saw this on a couple of blogs and thought I would participate.
A: AGE | 42
A very young 42! I don’t think I’ve ever really acted my age
B: BIGGEST FEAR | Death
I can't bear the thought of being away from my family....EVER
C: CURRENT TIME | 7:14pm
My two oldest are up in their rooms doing homework and my two youngest are down stairs on the computer playing computer games.
D: DRINK I LAST HAD | Wine
I am drinking a glass as  I type this to come down from a very hectic day.

E: EASIEST PERSON TO TALK TO | My husband
I can tell him anything. Even if it’s about him. He always makes time to listen to me. One of the many reason I fell in love with him. He actually listens to what I have to say.
F: FAVORITE SONG | Not sure that I have one
I’m not sure that I have a favorite song. I love all types of music and love listening to it all.
G: GROSSEST MEMORY | Bodily Fluids
I have been taking care of my children for 16 years now and I have had to deal with every bodily fluid there is.
H: HOMETOWN | Warrenville, IL.
I am from a small town that is about an hour away from Chicago.
I: IN LOVE WITH | My kids
Just when I think I can’t fall in love with them more, I do! They constantly surprise me.
J: JEALOUS OF | Millionaires
They say money can't buy happiness but I would just love to try and prove them wrong!
K: KILLED SOMEONE? | Not yet
;)
L: LONGEST RELATIONSHIP | Current one
My husband and I have been together since 1997. We will be married for 18 years this June.
M: MIDDLE NAME | Ann
My Mom and I have the same first name so they had to give me a different middle name so we could be different from each other. I never really cared for my middle name. Kind of boring.
N: NUMBER OF SIBLINGS | 0
I am an only child. I was spoiled by my parents but never a brat. I have always been a very appreciative person of all that I have and have been given.
O: ONE WISH | Happiness
I am happy but life gets hard sometimes and happiness is hard to find.
P: LAST PERSON YOU CALLED | My husband
Since our four girls pretty much dominate our lives we don't have much time to talk. I call him every night on my way home from work so we can catch up a little.
Q: QUESTION YOU’RE ALWAYS ASKED |  How do you do it?
I am asked this question every time I tell someone I have four daughters.  I am a full time working mom with four children. It is old hat to me.
R: REASON TO SMILE | Many!
My daughters!!

S: SONG YOU LAST SANG |  Stressed Out by 21 Pilots
I am currently  OBSESSED with this song.
T: TIME YOU WOKE UP | 4:00 am
My youngest woke me up at 4 this morning because she was ill. Poor thing had a sore throat and a fever. Needless to say I am exhausted right now.
U: UNDERWEAR COLOR | Pink
One of my favorite colors.
V: VACATION DESTINATION | Mexico
I haven't been since our honeymoon a bazillion years ago. What I would give to have a vacation!
W: WORST HABIT | Doubt
I doubt myself more than I should. I doubt myself when I should be patting myself on the back. It’s a nasty little habit that I’ve gotten myself into.
X: X-RAYS YOU’VE HAD | My wrist and ankle
I broke my wrist when I was 12 and broke my ankle when I was in my 30's.
Y: YOUR FAVORITE FOOD | Pizza
It’s always been my favorite. I can't deny myself a good piece of pizza.
Z: ZODIAC SIGN | Leo
Strengths – creative, passionate, generous, warm-hearted, cheerful and humorous. I would agree with all of these. Weaknesses – arrogant, stubborn, self-centered, lazy and inflexible… no comment!

#TWD I Am A Junkie

Hi my name is Lydia and I am a Walking Dead Junkie. I have watched this from the beginning and live for every Sunday that I can watch it again. I have met several of the cast members but Norman Reedus is my babe. I have never been more star struck. He turned out to be the coolest, kindest person ever.

The only other person I really would like to meet is Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes). I will have to post the other pictures of those that I have met in another post.

So do you watch The Walking Dead? Are you as huge of a fan as I am??

Have You Ever Had One Of Those Days?

Have you ever just had one of those days? You wake up late, your kid or kids have some major malfunction while getting ready for school? While trying to take care of this malfunction you end up running late for work. You get to work  late only to find out that you have a 10 hour workload that you have to do in 8. You get yelled at by your boss. You then get texted by your 16 year old to be yelled at about something again. Your husband is in a bad mood. Nothing seems to be going right. It is not even a Monday!!! This is the kind of day I had. I can only hope that now that the weekend is here it will get better.

Immoral

Why is it that everything that brings us comfort is wrong for us? I like to drink my wine at night to wind down from a long day at a job that I dislike. I just wish there was a magic wand that could make everything better. Do you find yourself doing things to make yourself feel better because of your life predicaments?

My Daughter Is In Trouble

My twelve year old  had a day just like any other day, until she turned to the dark side! She was fine one morning and something set her off so she decided to tell me and my husband off for silly  little things. We were both in shock. But what can  you expect from a hormonally challenged child? We let her spew her venum and didn't respond to her by text. This only made her more angry. She finally calmed down when she figured out that we wouldn't stand for her rude behavior. This is what we came home to that day. LOL

Letter to my Daughter #1

Dear Child,

It has been going on a year now since I have tried to conceive you. After much time I have found out that the birth control I have been taking for years has taken a toll on my body. I also found out that I have PCOS. I want you more than anything. The waiting is just the hardest part. I am not sure how I can love someone so much that I haven't even seen or met yet. I  just know that with all my being I want to be your Mom.

Love,
Your Mom
