Happy 4th Birthday To My Baby!

The youngest of our clan has just turned four. I can't believe how fast time has flown. It seems like just yesterday I had her in my arms, feeding her, rocking her and putting her to sleep. Now she is a "big girl" just like her sisters.

She signifies all things baby to me even though she is four now. She is the last one to wear diapers, sleep in a crib, drink from a bottle and all things baby. It really is a end of a 12 year era for me. One that I will treasure for my entire life.

So much has happened since I stopped blogging regularly. I went through a few part time jobs, only to be laid off. That of course let to economic problems and so on and so on. This year has been crap.

I am employed part time now and grateful for that. It is not exactly what I want to be doing, but it is an income none the less.

I am positive that this upcoming year will have its' good and bad, but I am more than positive it will just be a better year.

Where Has 20 Years Gone?

This next Saturday is my 20th high school reunion. I do plan on going (every other day). I just can't get over that is has been 20 years.

I can't say I am still friends with any of the except now through Facebook. I did have a high school sweetheart that I dated for 6 years that I haven't seen. That has a lot to do with my nervousness and the fact I hate being judged.

For the first time in forever my husband I got a chance to go out with a few other couples to a bar and guess who was there? High School boy! Talk about sh***ing my pants. How bizare. So, now that we got that out of the way I won't have so much to be nervous about.

I guess I should just go and have myself a good time. Did you go to your 20th? If so, how did it turn out?

Life Is Coming Back In Full Circle

I've been pretty quite on my blog for several million reasons. Mostly because I just haven't had the time or energy. I miss blogging and hope to get a schedule back in order soon.

My life have taken me in several different paths in the last few months. I have been unemployed, almost employed and still unemployed until last week. A home care company called me that I worked for 7 years ago looking for someone to work a case. I took it and now have a job.

My 20th high school reunion is in another week. I am pretty nervous. My high school sweetheart will be there and I am sure plenty of memories will accompany the night. Talk about full circle!

My husband is starting to play in a band that he played in 11 years ago when we first met.

Besides the four kids, it almost feels as if we are starting over again. I find it a bit scary and yet comforting at the same time. We have been having a hard time without me working so maybe this is just our chance to start all over again.

Ok, so who came up with the rule that you can't wear white after Labor Day? I think this is the worst idea ever. I live for white capri pants during the summer. It is very hard to get them off of me when this time of year comes. Not to mention all white shoes I have. Really?

I am stubborn and I won't stop wearing white until I am ready. I am ok with being a walking fashion faux pas.

I have been a fan of Matt Kearney for years now. So, when I was asked to review his most recent album I was really excited.
Mat Kearney is a Alternative musician from Nashville, Tennessee. This singer/songwriter has successfully had a total of 4 top 20 hits on the Adult Top 40 Charts.

Young Love is the fourth studio album and absolutely his best so far. I sat down to take a listen to this whole album. After being a big fan of Mat for a few years, I had to say I was a bit excited and had some high expectations for Young Love. The overall sound of the album is very similar to his previous albums; it has a upbeat feel to most of the tracks. His first single, “Hey Mama,” has fun claps, beats and lyrics. His more slower songs, such as, “Learning to Love Again” are said to be some of his best songs found on this collection. This song was written as a simple and intimate letter to a hurting friend, it is also personally my favorite song on the album.This long awaited album is definitely worth a download. He met my expectations and more!

On The Verge Of A Dresscode

As most of my readers know I have four daughters. My oldest is 11 and just went into 6th grade.
She goes to public school because we can't afford private. She is a modest girl. She won't wear dresses or skirts. She isn't a tom boy, I would say more goth than anything and I only say that because she loves black. She isn't allowed to wear makeup, except for a glossy lip stuff. She is just starting to get into some of the name brands and I am ok with that. She knows that most of it is expensive and I will buy it on special occasions.

But then there is the rest of the world? Parents - where in the hell are you shopping and why???????
These young girls look like gang bangers or bikers girlfriends at 11! WTH are you thinking? I don't even see these kind of clothes when I am shopping. I am no prude, but seriously people they are only 11. Most girls don't even dress that way at 16.

Our society makes me sad. One more thing I feel I have to keep my daughter from - too much sexuality at 11.

It's August and I'm Broke

I think I hate the month of August more than any other month of the year. August always equals =poor. School supplies, shoes, clothes, misc. crap. Oh and of course it has to be a five week month with 31 days in it!

I'm currently without a job because I was let go due to no budget in my department. This has to be the worst possible month to be without a job.

I have been putting my resume out there like crazy and keeping my fingers crossed. I am hoping that something will come through soon. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

It is wrong that I am counting down each day until my freedom? LOL It has been a long summer and we have now hit that part of summer that just D............R..........A..........G.............S.

We have going swimming, biking, walking, hiking, picnicking, museums, beaches, sleep overs and more and no one wants to do anything anymore. THEY ARE BORED. I am exhausted. I am looking forward to school as a chance to take a deep breathe.

The only problem with back to school is the finances. It is so expensive to clothe these kids and get school supply, let alone feed them. I guess at least my grocery bill will go down considerably soon. I just hate the financial stress of trying to get everything. Wake me up when August ends..........

Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

Wow! It has been so long since I have been able to dump my soul (also known as blogging! :)

So many changes have happened in my life in such a short time, I am just now catching my breathe.

I miss blogging so much. I am trying to find a way to make a schedule for myself so I can set time aside and do what I love doing. I am so behind on reviews and giveaways. I feel just horrible.

My part time night job turned into a promotion and for the first time in 11 years I started a full time job as a Marketing Coordinator. The changes were fast and furious and my family nor I took to the change very well.

We are finally getting adjusted and things are going as "normal" as they will be for now. The job didn't turn out to be what I expected and I am not sure of my future, but at least after 11 years of raising children I can say I tried and got out there. That in itself is a huge accomplishment for me.

I'm Still Here!

What a whirlwind! I went from working part time at home to getting a full time job outside of the house for the first time in 11 years. I worked for a week and then had to go on a business trip for three days to Baltimore.

TALK ABOUT ADJUSTMENT!!!

I'm slowly getting back to my life and plan to be back here soon! So stay tuned....

I haven't given up. I am still here. I am still working 14 hours days with two jobs and hoping that will end soon. We just hired someone to take my night work over so hopefully I can just focus on my day job.

Pour Your Heart Out Wednesday (well Thursday) - I'm Scared

I'm scared. There I said it. I should be excited and jumping all over for joy, but I am scared.

Why you ask? I got a job. A full time job. After 11 years of staying home with my four daughters, working countless night jobs and part time jobs I finally will be leaving the house from 8 to 4 and working a real job.

Now don't get me wrong. In a sane person's mind this is a great opportunity and a wonderful thing. We can use the money, it has great benefits, which we need as well. Not to mention the fact I went from part time Customer Service Rep on the phone at night to the companies Director of Marketing. I am so grateful for this opportunity I can't even begin to tell you.

I knew this day would come I guess I just thought I had more time. I am lucky my Mom is willing to watch the girls. This job just kind of fell into my lap and I would be a fool to pass it up. Getting back into the workforce is not easy.

Change is so hard. I am trying to embrace it. I am comfortable here at home. It is what I know. Hopefully I will find a way to be comfortable out there in the world as well.

Cracker Creations by Lance Review and Giveaway

Packing lunches every day gets tedious and so does trying to find wholesome things to put in their lunches. I was happy to see when Lance had released a new line of all natural snack packs.

Cracker Creations are described as "seasoned crackers with a cream cheese filling" and tout "real cheese, real vegetables, and 5 grams of whole grain per serving." They come in boxes of six individually sealed cracker twin-packs, in two savory flavors.

Ode To My Stoller

Dear Stroller,

This was the first weekend in 11 years I have gone to an outing without you. I must say I missed you horribly. I was so wrong in thinking a family outing would be easier without you.

My youngest doesn't need you anymore, but I still do. Where do I keep the diaper bag (that I don't need that still carries my things?). I have no where to put the extra water bottles so we don't have to pay $5.00 a bottle to every fest we go to.

I am so lost without you. I can not bring you with us anymore and it makes me sad. One more step in the whole "all my kids are growing up" adventure.

Thank you for all the years you have served me so well. You will be missed.

Hormel® Compleats® Kids Microwave Meals Review

I was so excited was I was given the opportunity to review Hormel® Compleats® Kids Microwave Meals. I am very lucky that none of my girls are picky. They never have been. They do love their junk, though. So, when I can find something they like that is nutritious as well I am in luck!!

The meals are quick and easy and the girls said they are taste wonderful. They have asked for them every time I go back to the store.

These great and tasty new meals by Hormel come in four varieties:

Spaghetti and Meatballs
Pasta and Chicken
Beef Ravioli
Macaroni and Beef

Since I have four children each one of my girls got to try a meal. They all really loved each one they tried. I have bought each of them a couple times over now so each one of the girls gets to try each one.

I love that they are quick and easy to make and my girls love how great they taste!

This weekend kicked my ass. Between getting ready for the Easter Bunny, getting four girls dresses, tights, shoes and then getting said girls to wear the dresses, tights and shoes, I am exhausted!

I love Easter, but I am glad it is over. Now, I just have to find the will power to overcome all the chocolate calling to me everyday!!

Every day should be "B Kind 2 Earth Day". But, this year on Friday, April 22nd it is the official day.

My daughters have off of school so we decided to come up with a few things we could do to help with this wonderful day:

1. Clean the house with some of the great "green" products we have found at the store.

2. Try and come up with something for dinner that is "green".

3. Walk around our area and pick up garbage to make the neighborhood look nicer.

It seems like there is never a time in our lives that we feel won't don't need to loose some weight. As parents we worry that our children are eating enough healthy and nutricious foods. I personally LOVE cereal. I try to eat healthy so at night when I need a snack I go for a healthy cereal to tide me over until the morning. Not only is it a nutritious option for a snack, but they taste so good!

Eatting Healthy With Hunt's Tomatoes #HuntsHealth

I recently invented a recipe. Sometimes things that taste the best are made by accident. I dedicate this recipe to my husband. Him and I are trying to live a healthier lifestyle by eating healthy and exercising three times a week.

Lately, all the foods I have been making are with healthy foods. One food that I try to use all the time is tomatoes. Tomatoes are good for your heart. They are low in calories, but rich in nutrients like potassium, fiber and the POWERFUL antioxidant called lycopene. In fact, because tomatoes are so nutritious, the new Dietary Guidelines for Americans say people should try to eat one more serving of them each day.

My preferred canned tomato is Hunts. The lycopene in canned tomatoes, like Hunt’s, is easier for your body to use than from raw tomatoes, and you get seven times more lycopene from canned tomatoes than from the raw version. Hunt’s tomatoes are convenient to use in lots of recipes.
All of Hunt’s tomatoes are grown in California and are 100 percent natural and come in lots of varieties, including No Salt Added.

My recipe wasn't ever really given a proper name because my family and I couldn't come up with a good one. So, we all decided on "SLOP". I dedicate my "SLOP" to my husband and his health.

Ingredients:

1 pound meat (we prefer ground turkey)

1 bag of mixed vegetables

2 can of Hunt's diced tomatoes

1 can of kidney beans

1 box of noodles (optional, but tastes good under the slop)

First cook the ground meat:

While the meat is cooking, place the frozen vegetables, tomatoes, and kidney beans in a pot and cook.

Once meat is cooked place it in the pot of vegetables.

Cook the noodles.

Place the cooked noodles in a bowl and place "Slop" on top.

I have a family of six and I always have leftovers with this recipe. This is not only economical, but healthy for the whole family.

When my "mid-life crisis" started I got my nose pierced a few weeks ago. Then it was time for my hair. I went for black this time. It is the only color I have never tried besides platinum. I am pretty happy with it for the time being. But, I can't wait until I get the courage up for the platinum!!

So, in the "I'm going through a mid-life crisis" style as of late, I did it again. My husband and I have been stepping out of our comfort zones lately to try and live a little. We had our neighbors over for a few drinks.

Now, I would never admit it, but I am pretty damn close to being a wino. I love my wine. Nothing works as well with my anxiety or being a mother of four better than a nice glass (or two) or Merlot at the end of the evening.

My neighbor and I can put down and let's just say we did. We finished more bottles than I would like to admit. I also got to do something that night I hadn't done such college. I prayed to the porcelain god at the end of the night. Talk about being embarrassed and sick.

I am so not 19 anymore, and so don't want to be!!!!!

Potty Training Sucks!

I am getting so close to being diaper free I can' see the light at the end of the tunnel. Or can I?
I have successfully potty trained 3 daughters, you would think #4 would be a breeze. Not so much.

She just turned three and seems to be ready to go. She sits on the little potty when I go. She goes through the motions and even asks to wear underwear to be like her big sisters. She refuses to wear pull ups but she will wear diapers. She loves wearing underware. The only problem with that is that she pees in it and doesn't care!

Underware has always been my last attempt to get the other three to go. Typically the child is mortified when they pee on themselves and the floor. Nope, not my girl! I am really at a loss right now. She is my exception to the rules. I have no idea where to go from here.

OMG The TXT Has Started

Considering we didn't have half the electronic things growing up that are children do these days, is it hard to figure out when to buy them and allow them to use them.

I bought a basic phone for my daughter when she was 10 for emergencies. She has her younger sister with her and I thought it would be a good idea to be able to get a hold of her.

Now that she is 11 we upgraded to a better phone and phone plan (thank God!). She can text now. I think the first week she had it she was glued to it 24/7. It has slowed since just because my husband and I have realized we need to make boundaries for her with it.

All I can say is the best purchase I have made in a long time is unlimited family texting. Otherwise I would probably have to take out a second mortgage just to keep up with my phone bill!!

There are many things I can't stand about Winter, but I have to say the worst part of it for me is having, dry, cracked skin. Every year, just before it starts getting really cold I can feel the moisture just being sucked out of my hands. I know Winter is here.

Spring Break And Mid Life Crisis

Ahhhh.......It is Spring Break. Isn't this place just gorgeous? TOO BAD I AM NOT THERE!

Spring break is here at home like it is every year. It is supposed to rain and or snow all week so it should be quite a challenge to keep my four happy and keep me sane. Oh wait, already lost my sanity years ago!!

Since I knew this was going to be a long week I decided to have a mid life crisis this weekend and get my nose pierced. I have wanted to do it for so long! I finally got the courage and did it! I got a tattoo when I was 21 so that was already taken off my bucket list. It was time to do something for me. And I LOVE it!!

It Has Already Happened.....I Am Officially Stupid

When I was about 9 years old I wrote my Dad a note on a green piece of paper that we affectionately named "greenies". He would get packs of them at work and bring them home to write notes on them. I think they were probably the first "Post It" notes that came out without the sticky.

My note lovingly spelled my name out for my Father so he would know how to spell it when he was making me a label for school. As if he couldn't spell my name!! LOL It became a HUGE joke in my house for the rest of my life. I guess I felt he was stupid and I had to spell it for him.

Well, the tides have changed and 20 + years later my 11 year old now thinks I am stupid as well. I guess it is a write of passage. I woke up to this note this morning.

We discussed this before she went to bed. I guess I go stupid when I get some sleep. I especially love the part where she puts her name. As if I would forget ! :)

Nutella Party #Nutellaparty

I was so happy when I was chosen to throw a Nutella Party. My girls are some of the biggest Nutella fans you will ever meet. We must go through at least a jar a week around here.

I recently received a party package through Mommy Parties, MomSelect and Nutella that included a large jar of Nutella, Nutella Travel Mugs, Nutella Spreaders, Samples, Coupons & More to host a Nutella Party to share with others.

We invited my daughter's friends and Moms over to try Nutella. There was only one Mom who had never had it before and she LOVED it, as did everyone else. Everyone had a greet time and loved the fact that got to leave with a Nutella Gift Bag!

House Party was kind enough to choose me to be a host of the Freschetta " Fresch From The Silver Screen" pizza party. I was given a really cool party pack to have a party with my friends and family and let them know just how great this pizza is!

I have to admit I was a little skeptical since I am not a big frozen pizza fan. But, once I tried the Freschetta I was in love!!

My family and I tired many different types of pizza and so did my guests. I can say that there was no complaints on any one of the pizzas. They were all SO good. I would defiantly buy a frozen pizza over a carry out company now. I am very glad that I had that chance to try something so good. I don't think I would have ever even tried frozen.

Do yourself a favor. There are many different types as well as crusts. This pizza is really good. My kids love it and so do my husband and myself!!

This is really great frozen pizza. I am really impressed and really glad I had the opportunity to try it.

Yoplait Kids Yogurt A Healthy Snack Review & Giveaway

My three year old loves two things more than life itself - princesses and yogurt. When she and I first saw the princesses on the package of the Yoplait yogurt it is almost as if her life had been fulfilled!

I am very grateful that for the most part all of my daughters eat healthy. They all love fruit, some veggies and pretty much any milk product. We go through a lot of yogurt in my house. I figure if I can't get a glass of milk in them I can at least get the yogurt in them.

Obesity is a huge problem in our population right now. Overweight children are at risk for cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, bone and joint problems and poor self-esteem. As adults, they are more likely to suffer from heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, cancer and osteoarthritis. And in a sample of 5 – 17 year olds, 70% of obese youth had at least one risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CDC).

Yogurt is a great snack that can keep all of our kids within the weight goals they need to be.
Yoplait Kids is packaged with kids in mind, featuring Dora the Explorer, Disney Princesses and Pixar Cars Lightening McQueen. Flavors include Vroom Vroom Vanilla (my boys favorite with McQueen), Royal Strawberry Banana and Strawberry.

How You Know Your Child Has Become A Tween

I will be the first to admit I am SO not ready for this whole puberty thing. I figured I had until at least 12 or so until I had to start all this crap. My poor girl started "puberty" at 10, cycle and all. I feel so bad for her. It is bad enough having to deal with it all your life, but to have to start so soon.

I also feel bad for my husband and myself, especially my husband. Having four daughters is going to warrant him getting an apartment once a month! LOL

MY TOP REASONS THAT I KNOW I HAVE A TWEEN:

We have the same shoe size. She has started starts wearing my shoes.

All of a sudden your pretty cool because you kept all of your curling irons, flat irons, and crimpers since you can remember.

She uses said products every day.

She has a crush on a real boy and his name isn't Justin Beiber.

She won't leave home without lip gloss.

She spends more time with her hair than anything else in her world.

She is already trying to sneak eyeshadow.

She wants nothing to do with family outings.

99% of the time she is CRABBY!!
